where it all started

The year was 2015 and it was a MASSIVE year in my life... It started with a category 5 cyclone, multiple hospital visits for my now husband, we got married, a 3 year contract finished that meant we were homeless and finished with open heart surgery for my husband. To say I was lost and stressed out was an understatement.

Early 2016 while we were in the heart recovery mode, I took a drive down to the local shopping centre and bought a book. I was looking for something to tell me what the feck to do with my life. Little did I know I would actually find it.

I went the usual self-help route and stumbled across a book by Kate James and devoured it in one sitting taking notes and doing exercises along the way. I noticed after I read it that I felt clearer and calmer and motivated to go and sort things out.  

Once I got to the end I read Kate’s authors note and it talked about how she was a life coach (up until then I’d never heard of such a job and just thought Kate was really smart;) , she mentioned she doesn’t train coaches but does recommend for anyone wishing to pursue a career in coaching that she only recommends Julie Parker of the Beautiful You Coaching Academy.

After coming out of three years of running an island for beer loving drinkers the idea of the heart centered “beautiful you” sounded entirely too fluffy and I worried that my center was more champagne and stressed rather than heart-centered. Something deep within made me push aside the school girl talk in my head telling me I wouldn’t fit in and get curious enough to reach out to the Beautiful You team who then scheduled a call for me to talk to the Founder and CEO Julie Parker.

From the very first moment I spoke to Julie she was a delight. Warm, articulate and intelligent and certainly not judging me as I was expecting or as I was of intially her. She spoke openly and honestly about what the training entailed and told me that only I would know if I was called to do it.

I remember thinking at the time “what do you mean, called to do it” - I’m on the bloody phone with you of course I called!

Oh how much I had to learn....

I reached out to a couple of coaches who had studied with Julie and the Beautiful You and decided to take the leap with Beautiful You pretty much within 48 hours. I didn’t know if I could or would fit in but my intuition told me this was where I needed to be.

Beautiful You has been a continual slow release lesson and gift that keeps giving and I could not recommend it more highly for anyone considering a career within the coaching space.
